Captain Gene Vander Hoek
You'll be fishing with one of the most experienced captains fishing the Famed Kona Coast. Captain Gene Vander Hoek caught his first marlin in Kona waters back in 1970. Since then he has amassed 32 World Records (6 Spearfish) on flyrod, over a million dollars in prize money, Captain of the year in the Pacific 2000 (Aftco), 25 Tag and Release Awards (Billfish Foundation and Aftco) and is a member of the IGFA's Billfish Royal Slam Club. Recently he received The Tommy Gifford Award for Legendary Captains and Crews. Gene has another pretty good distinction, he is the only Captain in the Pacific to weigh 4 Blue Marlin Granders. Gene love's to teach and coach anglers to their success.
